The short version

Deban is local-first. Your meeting audio, transcripts, speaker voiceprints, recordings, notes and memory are stored on your Mac and are not uploaded to Deban. The only data that leaves your Mac is the transcript text sent to the language model provider you configure, and — once accounts exist — the minimum needed to know who you are and whether your subscription is active.

What Deban processes on your Mac

• Meeting audio captured from your system audio and, if you allow it, your microphone. Recognised locally with Whisper. Recordings are saved only if you turn recording on.
• Voiceprints of participants you name, so they are recognised in later meetings. Stored locally; unnamed voiceprints are discarded after the meeting.
• Transcripts, minutes, alerts, notes, memory in a local SQLite database.
• Files you attach as meeting context, stored locally and indexed for search.

What leaves your Mac

• Language model requests: excerpts of the transcript, your meeting brief, relevant context and your suggested-answer requests are sent to the LLM provider you configure (for example OpenAI, or your organisation's endpoint), under that provider's terms. Audio is never sent.
• Model downloads: speech and speaker models are fetched from Hugging Face on first use.
• Update checks: the app asks our update server for the latest version. This request contains the app version and macOS version, no meeting data.
• Account and license (when available): your email, subscription state and a license token. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.

What Deban does not do

• No cloud storage of meetings, transcripts or recordings.
• No telemetry containing meeting content. If we add minimal usage telemetry (app launched, meeting duration, latency, crashes) it will be documented here and contain no transcript or audio.
• No selling or sharing of personal data with advertisers.

Your control

Everything is deletable in the app, with a 7-day trash. You can export all your data as a .deban archive at any time, and remove it completely by deleting the data folder (~/Library/Application Support/Deban).

Recording other people

You are responsible for complying with the laws and meeting policies that apply to you when recording or transcribing a conversation. Deban shows a live indicator while it listens.
